RECREATIONAL CLASSES
* If you are new to Shooting Stars, but have taken classes elsewhere, please contact us to schedule an evaluation for class placement. Registration will be canceled and a refund processed (minus an administrative fee of $10) if an evaluation is not completed prior to registering.*
Girl's Beginner 1 - 7+ years old 60 minutes Ratio is 8:1 *Must pass out of Big Dippers 2 or be age 7 or older.
Basic skills for the floor, beam, bars and vault on progressive equipment is taught. Some skills they will practice include gymnastic shapes, handstands and cartwheels on floor. This level focuses on terminology of skills and positions.
Girl's Beginner 2 - 7+ years old 60 minutes Ratio is 8:1 *Must pass Beginner 1 or complete an evaluation.
Gymansts will continue to work on their basic skills for the floor, beam, bars and vault on progressive equipment is taught. Some skills they will practice include gymnastic shapes, pullovers on bars, rolls and cartwheels on floor. This level focuses on building strength and confidence for skill development.
Girl's Intermediate 1 - 75 minutes Ratio is 8:1 *Must pass Beginner 2 or complete an evaluation.
Gymnasts will continue to work on skills to improve strength and confidence on each event. Some skills they will practice include flat backs on vault, backward rolls and handstand variations, jump combinations on beam and back hip circles on bars.
Girl's Intermediate 2 - 75 minutes Ratio is 8:1 *Must pass Intermediate 1 or complete an evaluation.
Gymnasts will work on slightly more advanced skills. Some skills they will practice include; advanced gymnastic shapes, limbers, and round-offs on floor as well as forward roll, split leap and handstand on balance beam. This level focuses on building greater strength and confidence for skill development.
Girl's Advanced - 90 minutes Ratio is 8:1 *Must pass Intermediate 2 or complete an evaluation.
Continuation of strength and flexibility continues in this level. Gymnasts will start to focus on combinations and more advanced skills. Gymnasts will start to focus on cartwheels and handstands on beam, tumbling passes on floor as well as routines on bars.
Boy's Beginner - 7+ years old 60 minutes Ration is 8:1
Basic skills for the floor, parallel bars, mushroom and vault on progressive equipment is taught. Some skills they will practice include gymnastic shapes, pullovers on bars, handstands and cartwheels on floor. This level focuses on building strength and confidence for skill development.
Boy's Intermediate - Passed or Tested out of Beginner 75 minutes Ration is 8:1
Basic skills will continue to be the focus while focusing on strength and skill development. Some skills they will practice include flat backs on vault, backward roll variations and round-offs on floor, swing combinations on parallel bars and circling skills on mushroom.
